Hull City beat European competition to sign Leeds United defender Cody Drameh
Cody Drameh will sign for Hull City despite European interest in the Leeds United man, reports Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian transfer specialist revealed on his X account [23 July] that Drameh will leave Elland Road for Humberside with the defender’s medical taking place on Tuesday.
It is also understood that Championship rivals along with European clubs were circling Drameh – who spent last season on loan at Birmingham City – but it appears as if the Hull deal will soon be wrapped up.
Drameh departure from Leeds United all but done
Whilst Daniel Farke will never like losing players who could potentially go on to have an impact, the Drameh deal makes sense for Leeds United.
The 22-year-old has built far more of his senior career so far away from Elland Road than as a Leeds player, having only made 10 first-team appearances for the Whites and just five in the league.
A series of loan spells with Birmingham, Luton Town and Cardiff City have given Drameh vital Championship experience which will increase the fee paid to the club – not least as he has a promotion with the Hatters under his belt, along with a double Player of the Season award with the Bluebirds in 2022.
Hull appear ready to dip further into their transfer kitty this summer under ambitious Turkish owner Acun Ilicali, who has already brought in Ryan Giles from Luton on a permanent deal and is chasing experienced West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu.
As for Leeds, the signing of Jayden Bogle was a financial flex of their own muscle and upgrades that right-back berth to allow Drameh the next chapter of his career.
