Leeds United are in a serious race against time to get a deal done for speedy winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya.

The Whites were in the market for a wide attacker heading into the final day of the summer transfer window.

With the clock ticking towards the 11pm deadline, news emerged of Leeds reaching a £26million agreement to sign Bahoya.

He will initially join on a season-long loan prior to joining permanently ahead of next season.

But that is only if the transfer can be officially pushed over the line in time as a new update emerges.

What is left to do for Jean-Matteo Bahoya to join Leeds?

This is a very fast moving transfer.

It looked for all the world as though the window would close without Leeds finding a replacement for Wilfried Gnonto, who is waiting to join Fiorentina.

In an update provided by Sky Sport reporter Florian Plettenburg on Tuesday evening, it is claimed that "all parties are optimistic that the deal will be finalised in time".

The medical is already underway and all that is left beyond that is the final paperwork, so everything is on track at this point.

Bahoya is described as an "electric" attacker by Sky Sports given he is the fastest player to have ever played in the Bundesliga.

What Bahoya deal means for Wilfried Gnonto

Gnonto has been left in limbo over in Italy over the past 24 hours or so.

He has undergone a medical with Fiorentina but cannot join until Leeds find a replacement.

Gnonto now looks set to finally depart Leeds, assuming this Bahoya deal gets over the line in time as expected.
