Helder Costa's Leeds United exit announcement may push past transfer deadline
Valencia’s bid to take Helder Costa on loan from Leeds United is going down to the wire and an announcement may be made after the transfer deadline passes.
That’s according to Goal Espana journalist Ruben Uria, writing via his personal Twitter profile with less than two hours to the deadline.
He wrote: “Leeds United and Valencia CF continue to negotiate against the clock to close the operation for Helder Costa.
“Sources close to the negotiation believe that the matter is advancing, but it remains to be known if they will be able to announce it before the market closing limit.
“They are still negotiating.”
Race to the finish line
The good news for all concerned is that a deal to take the 27-year-old to Valencia looks likely, despite the late nature of the move.
According to Uria’s information, the deal is advancing between Leeds and the La Liga side, but it may not be formally announced until later in the night, or possibly early tomorrow.
The transfer deadline shuts at 11pm so time is ticking for transfers to be completed and announced.
However, there is a clear distinction between the two.
As long as all the paperwork is signed and ratified there should be no issues in getting Costa to Valencia. The announcement is more for the fans on both sides who want to know where the Angola-born attacker will be plying his trade past the transfer deadline.
It’s surely only a matter of time until his Elland Road exit is confirmed and subsequently announced by either party.
In other Leeds United news, this Whites ace has snubbed a late move to their bitter rivals after an unexpected approach.
