Helder Costa deal to quit Leeds United 'completed' with loan-to-buy wrapped up
Al-Ittihad have reportedly completed a deal to sign Leeds United winger Helder Costa on a loan-to-buy basis, according to Saudi Arabian journalist Nawaf Al-Aqeel.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Friday (5 August), the reporter told his huge social media following that the 28-year-old’s move to Al-Ittihad “has been completed”.
It is understood that the ex-Wolves attacker is joining Al-Ittihad on a season-long loan with the option for the deal to be made permanent next year.
All but done
It seems as though we’re just waiting for an official announcement for Costa’s move to Al-Ittihad to be properly completed.
It’s moved quite fast and we are wary of Saudi Arabian journalists jumping the gun a bit.
However, Costa’s clearly got no future at Elland Road and it won’t be a shock at all to see him move away from the West Yorkshire club before the Saudi transfer window closes.
Costa hasn’t had the best of spells at Leeds.
In fact, the Angola international hasn’t had a good season since he helped Wolves win promotion from the Championship in 2017/18.
Since then, he’s struggled in the Premier League, struggled in La Liga and struggled back in the Championship with Leeds in their promotion season.
Sure, he’s played a role for the Yorkshire outfit.
But he’s definitely not been great and we won’t lose any sleep over losing him.
Costa should do well in Saudi Arabia.
Al-Ageel even says that the ex-Benfica ace is a “superstar” on his way to Al-Ittihad.
If that’s your definition of a superstar, then that says a lot about the quality of that league but we still wish Costa all the best.
