Harvey Elliott to Leeds United transfer reality emerges as Aston Villa saga continues
Leeds United may not be able to afford a move for Aston Villa attacking-midfielder Harvey Elliott in the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan at Villa Park from Liverpool, but the Lions are obligated to buy him if he makes 10 appearances for them.
As things stand, the England Under-21 international has made seven appearances under Unai Emery this season, and the playmaker’s career is effectively at a standstill, with the Villans reluctant to pay £35million for him.
By the looks of things, Elliott’s return to Anfield at the end of the season feels realistic, but despite his contract in Merseyside expiring in June 2027, the West Yorkshire outfit may still find it hard to get a deal over the line due to the possible finances involved.

Leeds United should attempt bargain Harvey Elliott deal with Liverpool
Elliott’s career is currently on hold due to the standstill between Villa and Liverpool.
After the high of winning the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, the former Fulham ace must have thought bigger and better things were awaiting him, but that hasn’t been the case.
The Reds are surely making a mistake by being reluctant to reach an agreement with Villa and not changing the parameters of the deal at Villa Park for the Englishman.
Writing in BBC Sport on 12 February, reliable journalist Adam Pope said, “Bearing in mind Villa have an obligation to buy Elliott for £35m from Liverpool after his loan spell at the end of the season should he make 10 appearances, I would think that the valuation would be too high for Leeds if they wanted him.”
It’s clear that the Lions have no intention of spending a hefty sum to sign Elliott, and his valuation is only going to go down if he keeps getting snubbed by Emery.
The Elland Road hierarchy should undoubtedly take advantage of the situation and strike out a deal with Liverpool to sign the attacking-midfielder for favourable terms.
If Elliott does return to Anfield in the coming months, he wouldn’t want to return to Villa after how he’s been treated, and the West Yorkshire outfit will surely be able to offer him regular game time in the Premier League, provided they avoid relegation.
Harvey Elliott move to Elland Road would be disastrous for resurgent player
After an abysmal few months, Elliott will surely be prioritising his development ahead of next season.
Leeds could potentially have an outside chance of signing the English playmaker, but if they do so, Brenden Aaronson will be looking over his shoulder.
The USMNT star has had a bit of a resurgence at Elland Road this season, making a place for himself in Daniel Farke’s starting lineup.
However, the Liverpool ace’s arrival may threaten the American midfielder’s status in LS11, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for the Englishman.
