Harry Wilson to demand hefty wage packet as Leeds transfer now more likely

Fulham star Harry Wilson has once again been linked with a move to Leeds this month.

Daniel Farke wants to bolster his attack further before the 2 February transfer deadline, and Wilson is a player Leeds are keen on.

Leeds came very close to signing Wilson in this season’s summer window, but the deal fell through on deadline day after Fulham supposedly hadn’t completed their side of the paperwork in time.

Since then, Wilson has been in superb form for the Cottagers during the first half of the season, but is facing an uncertain future with the London outfit due to his contract expiring this summer.

Leeds move one step closer to finally sealing Harry Wilson deal

All the while he’s been starring in the Premier League this term, Leeds chiefs must’ve been watching on in frustration.

However, with Farke‘s side looking good value for survival, and with the hope and expectation being that they will only continue to kick on further next year, Elland Road will be a hugely attractive proposition.

For that reason, Leeds’ hierarchy won’t for one second have given up on attracting a player of Wilson’s quality to West Yorkshire, and they’ve already seen their chances handed major boosts this week.

On Tuesday, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed that Fulham are negotiating a £35million move for Man City’s Oscar Bobb, in what could be viewed as the Cottagers sourcing Wilson’s replacement.

And in a report from talkSPORT on Tuesday, Fulham are described as “facing an uphill battle” to convince Wilson to sign a new deal at Craven Cottage.

It’s stated that ahead of him becoming a free agent at the end of the season, teams such as Everton, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Leeds are all keen on securing his services.

It’s understood he’s more likely to leave Fulham than to sign an extension, and with him still only being 28, he can fetch a considerably healthier wage and signing-on fee elsewhere.

Wilson would be ideal Jack Harrison replacement

Leeds have said goodbye to winger Jack Harrison this week, with the 29-year-old completing an initial loan move to Fiorentina.

However, the Serie A side does have the option to purchase him for £6m, but even if that’s not triggered, Harrison would surely return to Elland Road in the summer only to be moved on from again.

So, whether it’s in the remaining days of this winter window or in the summer, Leeds are sure to be looking for another versatile forward to take his place in the squad.

Wilson would be a superb choice, as he’s still very much in the prime of his career, can be snapped up on a free transfer, and has proven himself to be a top player in the Premier League.

The Wales international can play through the middle as either a 10 or as an eight, as well as out on the wings, perfect for Elland Road.
