Gudmundsson medical news drops ahead of Leeds United transfer

Gabriel Gudmundsson is in town as Leeds look to push through their next transfer.

The Whites needed to find a quick replacement for former fan favourite Junior Firpo after he left Elland Road at the end of his contract.

The 49ers are now seemingly closing in on their man, with Gudmundsson on the cusp of joining Daniel Farke’s side, after news from Thorp Arch.

Gudmundsson completes Leeds medical

The 49ers have done well so far this transfer window to bolster the Leeds defence.

After the Gudmundsson deal is completed, the Whites are expected to focus on building in other parts of the pitch, with Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff already lined up.

According to Sky Sports, the signing of Gudmundsson could soon be wrapped up after the Sweden international completed his medical with the Whites.

The left-back is set to sign for the West Yorkshire side from French club Lille in a £10m deal.

The Peacocks faced competition from Europe for Gudmundsson, but Farke’s side have been quick to make the deal happen, having previously missed out on targets this summer.

The 26-year-old will bring plenty of experience to Leeds, having played 15 times for his country.

Farke’s side will make a good go of the Premier League

The Premier League is tough for any newly promoted team, as Farke knows.

The German manager made a good go of it in his first Premier League season with Norwich before being sacked in his second year in the top flight.

Supporters will hope that he doesn’t meet the same fate, with the 49ers doing their best to add to the squad at Elland Road quickly.

Goal-scoring is often one of the main issues for newly promoted teams, and if the Whites are to stand any chance of staying up next season, they must bring in more strikers.

Leeds have already given the squad a good platform going into the Premier League and must now provide new signing Lukas Nmecha with further attacking reinforcements.
