Gretar Steinsson sent to Germany to finalise deal for FC Koln ace Dejan Ljubicic

Leeds United have sent technical director Gretar Steinsson to Germany in order to try to finalise a deal for FC Koln playmaker, Dejan Ljubicic, according to MOT Forum.

The outlet reported on 26 July that Leeds’ technical director has flown to Germany in order to try and get the deal over the line after their initial bid was rejected.

The report also outlines that the move is of “importance” to Daniel Farke this summer.

Leeds United will have to act quick to sign Dejan Ljubicic

Ljubicic would be a stellar acquisition for Leeds this summer. The midfielder played a total of 27 times for FC Koln last term and managed to assist his teammates twice.

The midfielder was played across the pitch with features on either flank and even as an attacking midfielder.

However, his main position across the season was that of defensive midfield which is a key area that Leeds needs to strengthen, due to the recent exits of Archie Gray and Glen Kamara.

The Austria international did have a couple of problems with injuries across the term but it was nothing that would be a major issue for the West Yorkshire club in the long run.

So, although Ljubicic’s name is not likely one that many of the Whites’ fans will have heard of, their need for reinforcement is undeniable and the Austria international could be a cheap option as he enters the final year of his contract.
