Graham Smyth shares what Leeds United source said about Adam Armstrong transfer

Leeds United will not be signing Adam Armstrong before the 11pm deadline on 3 February, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist shared the news via the newspaper’s website (3 February) that sources “close” to the West Yorkshire outfit confirmed the number nine would not be making a switch to Elland Road.

The Whites have been linked with both Armstrong and Cameron Archer over the last couple of days but it seems like a move for neither of the number nines is likely to occur as things stand.

Leeds United should try and find another striker to sign

Even though Leeds emerged from their Championship clash against Cardiff on Saturday as 7-0 winners, it still feels like they could do with a more consistent number nine to lead their attacking line.

Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph have been Daniel Farke’s preferred options this season and while both have shown spells of good form here and there, they’ve never managed to keep it consistent.

Granted, this could be due to the German’s constant interchanging between the duo but even so, for a team leading the way at the top of the Championship by some distance, their number nine should be key to the way they play.

Archer would have likely been fans’ preferred option due to his age but after the goal-scoring prowess that Armstrong showed last term, either of them would have been welcome additions.

Of course, there’s still time for things to change and turn around at both Leeds and Southampton but at the moment, it feels like Leeds aren’t likely to add any new faces to their ranks.
