Graham Smyth shares update on Bournemouth airport private jet flight to Leeds
Graham Smyth has revealed that a flight to Bournemouth from Leeds Bradford Airport wasn’t related to Leeds United.
At 4pm on deadline day (3 February) a private jet departed from LS19, headed for Bournemouth airport before returning at 7pm [FlightRadar24].
There was excitement among supporters at Elland Road that this could be to do with a deal for Cameron Archer or Adam Armstrong at Southampton, which is just 30 miles from the airport.
Smyth has taken to X (3 February) to put an end to these rumours as he said: “The Bournemouth flight was not Leeds United related. Quiet evening expected.”
Graham Smyth dismisses Leeds United flight for Southampton deal
With just hours remaining in the winter window, there is every chance that Daniel Farke will be keen to ramp up efforts to sign a striker.
This has been a target for the Whites in recent weeks despite no deal going through until this point.
Links to Archer haven’t lessened, while Armstrong has also been looked into as a potential option at this late stage of the window.
As a result, excitement was rife when a private jet appeared to be on its way to hold talks or to complete a deal at St Mary’s before the deadline.
Now any expectation has been dampened by Smyth with supporters now unlikely to see a new player come in to help contribute to the promotion efforts.
This could prove to be a mistake but as it stands, a deal could still be completed at Elland Road and the window isn’t over until it’s over.
