Graham Smyth shares if Leeds United chase deal for Callum O’Hare in ‘Urgent’ transfer update

Graham Smyth doesn’t believe Leeds United are trying to sign former Coventry star Callum O’Hare on a free transfer this summer.

Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast (9 July), the YEP journalist reports that the club are not chasing the number ten position as an “urgent priority” in this window.

There are no transfers “imminent” currently at the club despite exits being confirmed, as Daniel Farke looks to rebuild his squad for another push to try and get back to the Premier League.

“I would still love to see a number 10 come in,” he said.

“At the minute I don’t get the feeling that it’s going to be O’Hare because we’re told there’s nothing imminent right now with him from Leeds, and I don’t get the feeling they’re chasing that one as an urgent priority.”

Callum O’Hare to sign for Leeds United?

Most Leeds fans will openly admit that the forward areas need to be strengthened this summer, especially if the outgoings go as expected.

Crysencio Summerville is expected to leave the club [Ben Jacobs, 24 June] while there has been interest in Wilfried Gnonto and Georginio Rutter too, and Joel Piroe could be allowed to move on after just one season.

The number ten role was one that struggled last season for goals and O’Hare had a stunning season with Coventry before his contract expired, which has seen plenty of interest arrive at his door.

But Leeds seem to have a lot of other priorities right now with the defence needing additions and midfield at risk of being picked apart, so it may be a deal that is revisited later in the window if it’s still available.

For now though, Farke and the board are making their plans for the new season and it seems as though O’Hare doesn’t feature in them.
