Leeds United could listen to Patrick Bamford offers amid ‘desperate’ admission
Leeds United would listen to offers for Patrick Bamford in the January transfer window but his high wages could be a barrier to a sale, journalist Graeme Bailey has said.
Bamford has found his game time severely limited at Elland Road even since returning from injury, with Joel Piroe and Mateo Joseph ahead of him in the pecking order at Elland Road.
Recent transfer rumours linking Dor Turgeman with a switch to Leeds (Sport5) could see him drop even further down that list with an exit a possibility.
However, Bailey told Leeds United News (5 December) that Bamford will be “very hard” to move on because of the money he is on at Leeds.
“Bamford’s on huge wages. He’s very, very hard to leave,” Bailey said. “They like him as a player. I think they would listen to offers for him, so let’s see how that transpires. It wouldn’t surprise me if someone lower down, but he’s a hard sell as well.
“His fitness record hasn’t been great over the last 12 months in particular. I don’t think they’d stand in his way, but he’s on big money, he’s one of the higher earners at Leeds. He’s hard to move on. I don’t think he’s desperate to move either. It would be tough to move him out.”
Patrick Bamford future at Leeds United looks bleak
Bamford is already struggling to find minutes under Daniel Farke at Elland Road this season and the January transfer window is only likely to reduce them even further as Leeds look to bolster their attacking lineup.
Leeds have had an impressive campaign to date but the one area that has been lacking is in the striker department as highlighted by Darren Bent.
Piroe and Joseph have swapped in and out of the side this term and any place for Bamford is already unlikely and that is before any potential striker arrivals in January.

However, as mentioned by Bailey, his wages will likely provide a stumbling block for any potential exit with him as one of the highest earners at the club.
Undoubtedly there will be clubs interested in his services although whether any of those are able to reach his demands will be a dilemma that awaits in January.
