Glen Kamara and Rennes are close to agreeing personal terms ahead of a move away from Leeds United, according to Ouest-France.

Writing on their website (3 July), the French news outlet report that an agreement between club and player is "in the pipeline" with the Ligue 1 club regarding the 28-year-old as a "priority" target.

Kamara joined from Rangers in a £5million deal last summer and made 42 appearances in all competitions for Daniel Farke's side as a key member of the team that narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds have received interest from Rennes about a transfer but according to BBC Sport's Adam Pope they have no intention of allowing a move to take place.

Leeds United face a battle to keep squad together

The summer transfer window at Elland Road was always going to be an incredibly difficult one to navigate after failing to earn promotion.

Archie Gray has already been moved on to Tottenham and the expectation is that others will leave too, with Champions League side Monaco and Marseille also linked with a move for Illan Meslier [Daily Mail, 29 June].

But the Whites are adamant that they are in a strong position financially and any sales will only happen on their terms.

Leeds United and Daniel Farke have to aim for promotion once again this season.

If that's the case then Rennes will need to stump up the cash to get a deal done with plenty of time remaining on his contract, and a need to keep the squad together.

Farke won't want to lose another key member of the squad in midfield especially, so this would be a real blow for the Whites if Kamara is on his way to France.
