Leeds United midfield Glen Kamara has officially said goodbye to the Whites' fanbase as his summer Elland Road exit is agreed.

The Finnish international is set to join Ligue 1 side Rennes in an £8.6million deal only a single season after he arrived in Yorkshire from Rangers as one of many additions made last summer [Fabrizio Romano, 15 July].

Although his time at Elland Road was brief, the former Gers star has been quick to pay his respects to the Leeds supporters before wishing Daniel Farke and his side all the best for next season.

Writing on Instagram on Tuesday (16 July) he said: " I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to Leeds United for the chance to represent this amazing club.

"It’s been a short journey but definitely one that I will remember for the rest of my life. To the staff, my team mates and of course the fans, I wish you all the best.

Has Glen Kamara left Leeds United amid Rennes summer transfer speculation?

Leeds United supporters would have been expecting this sort of message from Kamara this summer with reports suggesting he was close to departing Elland Road, but it may well have come a bit earlier than expected.

While the Finnish international's move to France could well be concluded in the coming hours, so far there has been no official confirmation from either club involved in the transfer to suggest that the deal has been completed.

Things must already be at an incredibly advanced stage for Kamara to be making such a public statement to the supporters, but he will be hoping everything goes off without a hitch so he isn't left with an egg on his face.

It would be incredibly embarrassing if this move was now to fall through and the former Rangers man had to return to Yorkshire with his tail between his legs having already said his goodbyes to fans and teammates alike.
