Glen Kamara expected to complete Leeds United exit after new Stade Rennais transfer update

Leeds United sources suggest that Glen Kamara is likely to be the next player to exit Elland Road this summer, according to Planet Sport.

The outlet reported on its website on Friday (12 July) that although the Whites are under no pressure to sell the Finnish midfielder this summer, he appears set to be the next to depart as summer exits continue.

Daniel Farke’s side are understood to value the former Rangers man upwards of £6million as speculation continues around his future with Leeds.

Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais are understood to be interested in signing Kamara this summer with reports suggesting they could still move to secure his signature even if they sign Albert Gronbaek [L’Equipe, 11 July].

Will Glen Kamara exit Leeds United amid Stade Rennais transfer rumours?

Having already lost Archie Gray to Tottenham, Farke and Leeds United will likely be reluctant to see any other midfielders depart Elland Road this summer unless they are the subject of big money transfer offers.

Although Kamara was nowhere near as exciting to watch as Gray last term, he was still a crucial part of Farke’s side as the Whites narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier League on two occasions last season.

Alongside Ilia Gruev and Ethan Ampadu, the Finnish international formed an impressive midfield partnership that often controlled matches and was the beating heart of the side both in and out of possession.

Perhaps with the signing of Joe Rothwell on loan from Southampton, Leeds are already beginning to prepare for life without Kamara. Even with their new addition, they are unlikely to let the midfielder leave for nothing.

Unless Rennais submit a genuine offer for his services upwards of the Whites’ valuation, it seems unlikely this deal will happen.
