Glen Kamara exit update emerges at Leeds United amid Stade Rennais transfer speculation

Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara has not asked for a meeting to push through a summer exit amid speculation, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported on Monday (8 July) that the Finnish international is yet to demand that his future at Elland Road be addressed amid suggestions he is keen to depart in the transfer window.

Reports had suggested Kamara had agreed personal terms with Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, but the Whites were unlikely to sanction his departure as they were reluctant to lose another midfield star [Adam Pope, 5 July].

Will Glen Kamara exit Leeds United amid Stade Rennais transfer speculation?

Having already lost Archie Gray to Tottenham this summer, it seems only natural that Daniel Farke and those above him at Leeds United would be reluctant to lose either Kamara or Ilia Gruev in the coming weeks.

The Finnish midfielder has certainly had his critics during his time at Elland Road with some slamming his lack of end product in the final third during his first season, but he has been one of the most consistent performers in the Championship.

He may not pop up with goals from the middle of the park or produce moments of magic as Gruev did in the playoffs, but he is the beating heart of Farke’s midfield and without him, the team tends to look a lot worse.

Hopefully, he will remain happy to stay at Leeds for the remainder of the summer as the Whites have had to deal with enough players who have tried to push through transfers following their relegation from the Premier League.

Even if he has agreed personal terms with Stade Rennais, he is under contract in Yorkshire and while that remains the case, Leeds can block any potential exit even if it leaves the player unhappy.

For now, at least, all the power lies with the Whites in this situation.
