Leeds United seem to be in pole position to land a potentially cut-price deal for highly-rated striker Joe Gelhardt.

The Sun's transfer expert Alan Nixon claimed that Leeds had met with the player on Monday, with the club's administrator wanting money upfront and quickly for the youngster.

That update has been met with by delight from Leeds fans and upset from poor Wigan supporters.

Wigan fans, who are having a horrible time at the moment, aren't impressed at the prospect of losing their best players on the cheap.

One said "This one is awful... Looks a superb prospect and will be a steal no matter where he goes", while another talked him up even further saying, "Jude Bellingham has nothing on him."

One Wigan fan accused Leeds of tapping the player up but Nixon confirmed the club administrator was on board and that it was "all official".

Leeds fans are mainly hot on the deal, especially if Leeds can get him for a bargain price.

One said, "Get it done Leeds! Lad is going to be class!" Another said he'd be "Daft not to go to Leeds and be coached by Bielsa."

That's a good point and we can't imagine another club in the Premier league that has such great synergy between the Under-23s and the first team.

That has to play into Leeds' hands – as is the fact that they seem to be first in with the strongest interest.
