Georginio Rutter stance emerges after Leeds United transfer developments
Georginio Rutter has no appetite to leave Leeds United this summer, according to Beren Cross.
The journalist has reported for Leeds Live [4 July] that following Brighton’s rejected £30million bid for the Frenchman, his future looks set to be in West Yorkshire.
The club also have no desire to see their record signing depart this summer as they look to gain promotion back to the Premier League.
Why keeping Georginio Rutter is good news for Leeds United
Having already sold Archie Gray to Tottenham, the Whites’ hopes for promotion next season have already taken a hit.
Despite being played in his unnatural position of right-back for the vast majority of the term, Gray was still one of the stand-out players.
The midfielder was likely the name that Leeds fans would’ve least been happy to see leave due to his family’s long history with the club and of course his stellar talent.

However, the fact that the sale of the 18-year-old has enabled Leeds to be in a stronger negotiating position for any future transfers, will greatly increase their chances of promotion.
It also means that the West Yorkshire outfit won’t be forced into any sales of other star players such as Crysencio Summerville who have also been consistently linked with moves away [Graham Smyth, 3 July].
Should Leeds manage to keep both Rutter and the Netherlands youth international this summer, if their form from the 2023/24 campaign is anything to go off, it’s hard to see them not regaining Premier League status.
In other Leeds news, the Whites are playing hardball in the transfer of Diego Llorente.
