Georginio Rutter medical minutes away as Leeds United agreement ‘all done and sealed’

Georginio Rutter will start his Brighton medical within “minutes” as he closes in on his move away from Leeds United, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported via his personal X account on Friday (16 August) that the 22-year-old’s £40million move to the south coast is all but done.

It is understood that an agreement is “all done and sealed” between Leeds and Brighton after the Premier League side triggered his release clause and agreed on personal terms.

Leeds United head into frantic two weeks with summer transfer window to close

Leeds are going to have to try really hard to prove to fans that they’re not just going to panic-buy their way to the summer transfer window deadline on Friday 30 August.

Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, Crysencio Summerville and Rutter are all going to have left Elland Road for a combined fee of well over £100million and none of that money has really been re-invested into the squad.

Yes, Jayden Bogle has joined from Sheffield United and Joe Rodon’s loan has been turned into a permanent deal. But signing a second-choice goalkeeper in Alex Cairns and loanee Joe Rothwell doesn’t really cut it for a team that’s made so much money in the window so far.

Leeds have to go big or go home. Fans won’t settle for anyone they don’t think will be fit to tie Summerville’s laces or be able to show as much passion and pride as Rutter did.

It’s going to be a very testing couple of weeks for Paraag Marathe, Angus Kinnear and co.
