Gary Rowett shares transfer stance on Leeds United-linked Tyler Ghoodrham
Oxford United boss Gary Rowett insists Tyler Goodrham will not be leaving in the winter transfer window amid recent links to Leeds United.
The Whites have been linked with several players since the window opened and while Daniel Farke has said it’s likely to be a quiet window at Elland Road, that doesn’t mean it’s 100 per cent certain that no new faces will be brought in.
However, if Leeds do choose to make some moves, Rowett has made it abundantly clear that Goodrham won’t be on that list.
“You certainly don’t want to sell your best players in the January window. He’s a young player that I’ve been incredibly impressed with,” he said in quotes relayed by the Herald Series (24 January).
“I’ve been incredibly impressed with a lot of his attributes. He’s got areas of his game where I’m surprised how good he is.
“He’s got a real resilience about his game. Sometimes you watch him from afar and you think he’s a technical player who plays in pockets, but he’s a tough so and so, and he plays with a real responsibility that kind of belies his age, as well as the quality.
“It doesn’t surprise me that clubs will look at him, but he’s certainly not a player that we would want to lose at any point, but certainly not at this point in the January window.
“To me, it’s just speculation, but I understand the speculation because he’s a very good player.”
Daniel Farke needs to make at least one addition to his Leeds United squad
Leeds may be sitting pretty at the top of the second-tier table at the moment but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be looking for ways to improve their squad.
The Whites have one of the best teams in the Championship with plenty of talent across the board.
That in itself is one of the main reasons why teams often fear the West Yorkshire outfit when coming up against them.
One of the main thorns in Leeds’ side this season has been the lack of consistency that their number nines have shown.
Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe have often interchanged with one another and while Goodrham won’t have been able to help in that department, he’d have certainly helped shore things up in the centre of the park.

The 21-year-old is not only versatile but also has a keen eye for goal with the Oxford playmaker notching seven goal contributions across all competitions thus far.
Only time will tell if Farke chooses to make any additions but if he does, he’s bound to improve Leeds’ chances of promotion tenfold.
In other Leeds news, Daniel Farke could axe a midfielder for their game against Burnley.
