We're delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he'll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson is excited by the prospect of Leeds signing Andre Gray.

The two played together at Burnley and Robinson says that Gray would be a "game-changer" for Leeds and their promotion hopes.

Athletic journalist Phil Hay said that while Leeds had already been knocked back by Watford once this window, he could see that situation changing.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, "He would be an outstanding signing for Leeds. I played with Andre at Burnley and him and the Championship… he’s such a good fit for this league.

"He scores goals, he’s a good character, he would thrive at Leeds. The fans will quickly warm to him when they see what he brings... electrifying pace, he can score goals.

"At times he makes runs and gets caught offside, there are bits of his game that will frustrate people, but he scores goals.

"If there’s any chance they could sign him it would be a game-changer for their promotion hopes. I would put him in the same bracket as Dwight Gayle but Gray would be more match ready, he’s played more for Watford.

"He would be an absolutely perfect signing and a game-changer for Leeds and promotion."

Gray is on a huge salary at Watford - reportedly £70,000-a-week – and that could be a stumbling block for Leeds.

However, his credentials in the Championship back up what Robinson has said.

He scored 23 goals in 41 Championship games in the 15/16 season when he was at Burnley with Robinson.
