Fresh injury setback may stop Newcastle push for Tyler Adams transfer at Leeds United
Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams has suffered a fresh injury setback, but this may prove to be good news for the Yorkshire side, as a move to Newcastle may now be off the cards, according to The Shields Gazette.
The Newcastle-based publication shared on 24 July that Adams, who has been linked to a move away throughout this transfer window, has sustained another setback to the injury he suffered in March, which has put Newcastle off making a move for him.
It had previously been reported by Football League World, among other publications, that Adams was on Newcastle’s list of midfield targets, and the American commented on a podcast last week praising the North-East club and their fans.

Leeds can afford to remain hopeful
It was shared last week that Leeds remained confident of keeping Adams at the club this summer ahead of the upcoming Championship season, as he would play a large part in the club bouncing straight back up to the Premier League.
Adams’ injury, which he sustained in July, has taken longer than expected to recover following multiple setbacks, but this could end up being a positive for Leeds United, with clubs generally unwilling to sign injured players through fear of struggles in recovery.

This could mean that, should the injury persist, clubs will swerve any deal for the American, and he could ultimately end up a Leeds player when the transfer window closes in September.
Leeds will look to hold on to the core of players they still have at Elland Road, despite an exodus of star players following their relegation, with Adams included as well as star Willy Gnonto – as neither of the two have exit clauses in their contracts.
In other Leeds United news, the club tabled an £8.6m+ bid for a new goalkeeper over the weekend.
