Beren Cross has admitted that he doesn't think anyone will offer Leeds United enough for Georginio Rutter to exit Elland Road this summer.

The Frenchman who is the Whites record signing, was the subject of a £30million bid from Brighton earlier in the summer transfer window prior to Archie Gray's big-money move to Tottenham [Adam Pope, 2 July].

While reports have suggested the Seagulls could return with a bigger offer to tempt Leeds into a sale [talkSPORT, 2 July], Leeds Live journalist Cross admits he would be surprised to see anyone match the Whites' valuation.

Writing in a Q&A for Leeds Live on Friday (5 July) he said: "I can't predict the future, but, right now, no he's not leaving. The offer from Brighton was knocked back.

"It would need to be such a higher offer for Leeds to justify a sale on their PSR projections. I can't see anyone offering enough for him to make it worth their while."

Will Georginio Rutter exit Leeds United amid Brighton summer transfer interest?

The sale of Gray has gone a long way to balancing Leeds' books in terms of profit and sustainability and that means that they are now in a position where they should be able to keep their best and brightest at Elland Road.

As Cross suggests, the sale of Rutter wouldn't exactly go a long way to helping the Whites' financial fair play position anyway because of just how much they spent to bring him to England from Hoffenheim originally.

Obviously, things can change very quickly in the summer transfer window and should a Premier League side suddenly make a much bigger offer for the Frenchman, maybe then Leeds United would actually have a decision to make.

With the current financial rules in the top flight, however, it would be a surprise if Brighton or any other side were suddenly willing to fork out a fee upwards of £30million to try and secure Rutter's services.

Even then, there would be no guarantee that the forward would even be interested in making the switch as he is understood to be in no rush to force his way out of Elland Road.
