Rasmus Kristensen ‘exit on at Leeds United’ as European club chief speaks out

Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen is currently thriving out on loan at Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

Despite having signed for Leeds in 2022, Kristensen has made just 30 appearances for the Whites with a loan spell at Roma closely followed by his current one at Frankfurt.

The Danish international has thrived in Germany and it leaves an interesting debate to be had over his future if Leeds are to get promoted this year.

His desire to play top-flight football is fairly evident and one could only assume that if the Whites fail to achieve promotion, a permanent exit for Kristensen could be on the cards.

Frankfurt want to strike a permanent deal for Kristensen

Given his importance to the Bundesliga outfit, it should come as no surprise to see that they want to make his stay a permanent one, with Timmo Hardung expressing their desire to rubberstamp that.

As quoted by Fussball Transfers (17 February), the Frankfurt sporting director said: “We’ll try [to sign Kristensen permanently].

“We have him here until June 30th and we know about Rasmus’ quality. It’s no secret, he has become a big factor off the pitch too. He’s just a good guy who fits in very well with us in the team and the club.

“Let’s work on it; we still have until at least June 30th. We’ll definitely have his qualities until then.”

It appears unlikely that Kristensen is in any future plans at Leeds, and if the Whites can finalise a permanent exit for the Dane, it could suit all parties involved.

Leeds have many decisions to make this summer

First and foremost, promotion is the number one priority for Leeds United and their ability, or inability, to achieve that will dramatically alter any decisions made in the summer.

That includes the deal for Kristensen, who may be tempted to stick around at Elland Road if the prospect of Premier League football is shown to him.

Regardless of which league they are in, recruitment will be key for the Whites. Should they achieve promotion, several improvements will be needed in the summer, while a failure to achieve that would likely end the stay of several players.

However, for now, Leeds cannot afford to let anything distract them from the task at hand, which is to finish inside the top two of the Championship.
