Frankfurt chief makes new transfer admission on Leeds United loanee Rasmus Kristensen

Eintracht Frankfurt chief Timmo Hardung has confirmed the Bundesliga side intend to hold talks with Leeds United to see if a permanent deal for Rasmus Kristensen is possible.

Hardung, sporting director of the Bundesliga club, has told Tipsbladet [30 October] that Frankfurt “greatly appreciate” Kristensen and talks are planned for a potential purchase in 2025.

Kristensen, 27, has started all eight of his league games for Eintracht since his loan spell from Elland Road began, having played 29 times in Serie A for Roma last season.

Hardung said: “He has done very well, and he has become a very important player in a short time.

“He has great qualities and we are really happy to have him. [A permanent deal] is definitely an opportunity for us. We greatly appreciate him and his qualities as a football player. When you think about the squad next season, we will look at whether we want him permanently.

“It has not been decided yet, and we will have to talk to him about whether it could be the right thing for him. We also have to talk to Leeds to see if it is possible.”

Leeds United could dispense with Rasmus Kristensen

Leeds United had so many players out on loan last season while in the Championship that when the clutch of them returned to Thorp Arch for pre-season, the squad was in disarray.

Daniel Farke and the backroom staff have since sifted through and organised what has turned out to be a small roster for the current campaign, but Kristensen was one of many to head back through the exit door.

Brenden Aaronson has in fact been the only real senior player of note to be fully reintegrated back into the side and feeling like “a new signing”, with Max Wober still on the sidelines.

Kristensen has been a regular for Frankfurt but was withdrawn during the first half of their 1-1 draw with Aaronson’s old loan club Union Berlin on Sunday (27 October) due to injury.

Recouping at least some form of fee would likely now be Leeds’ priority when it comes to the full-back, rather than envisioning a resumed career at Elland Road.

In other Leeds news, Don Goodman expects this to happen to Joel Piroe against Plymouth Argyle.
