Four senior Leeds United players named when journalist asked who could be sold in summer
LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross has namechecked four Leeds United players when asked who could be moved on in the summer transfer window.
Leeds have shown signs of regression in the Premier League this season and numerous players who were at Elland Road in the Championship have struggled.
When asked by a Leeds fan who out of the promotion-winners could suffer the axe ahead of next season, Cross replied by naming Tyler Roberts, Luke Ayling, Mateusz Klich and Jack Harrison as four who’ve failed to impress this term.

“The club will need to know what division it’s going to be in first, but if they stay up there will definitely need to be a reset on the squad in some regards because they cannot afford another season like this one to play out that way again,” said Cross on the LeedsLive website after holding a Q&A with supporters.
“Rather than ship out the players who got the club promoted they may want to bulk the size of the squad up by adding rather than subtracting players. Much depends on the impression they make on [Jesse] Marsch in the final nine matches of the season. For me, Roberts, Ayling, Klich and Harrison have not had the best seasons as a whole, but that doesn’t mean the club will feel the same way.”
Game of opinions
Cross feels those four players have underperformed and for large spells of the campaign, he’s correct.
Klich seems to have improved as of late but Roberts was barely good enough for Leeds in the Championship, Ayling has suffered from being played at centre-back and Harrison has been inconsistent.
Harrison may also be suffering from Daniel James’ move to Elland Road with the ex-Manchester City winger being named on the bench on Sunday by Marsch ahead of the win over Norwich.

Marcelo Bielsa definitely liked Harrison, he played him a lot. But since Bielsa’s exit and Marsch’s arrival, the English winger has failed to complete 90 minutes of a game.
You could say that Klich and Ayling are among the ageing contingent of Leeds’ promotion winners and there’ll no doubt be a natural end to their spells at Elland Road in the coming years.
And with Roberts, for the sake of the young lad, it is perhaps best to sell him this summer or at least loan him out to a Championship club.
