Footage emerges on Twitter that shows player arriving at Elland Road, Phil Hay responds
Footage has emerged of Rennes winger Raphinha arriving at Elland Road ahead of signing for Leeds United on a permanent basis.
A Leeds supporter uploaded a clip of Raphinha, 23, and his entourage getting out of a car and heading towards the stadium.
The Brazilian ace appeared to be wearing a white Leeds scarf in the clip.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay has reacted to the clip, hailing the supporter for his “terrific stalking” of Raphinha, who seems as though he’ll be the final non-domestic addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad before the 11pm deadline.
For anyone who watched Raphinha play in Rennes’ 2-2 draw against Reims on Sunday, you will have had a good look at what the Brazilian winger is about.
The former Sporting CP ace scored a brilliant goal after a dazzling run from his own half and a clever one-two on the edge of the Reims penalty area.
He then set up Rennes’ second goal minutes later with a fizzing cross into the box from a corner kick.
It could take some time for Raphinha to get into Leeds’ starting line-up because, as we all have come to know, Marcelo Bielsa likes his players to have plenty of time to settle in.
We could see the Brazilian ace playing in the Under-23s for a few weeks after the international break but Helder Costa doesn’t deserve to be dropped anyway with the ex-Wolves winger being one of Leeds’ best players in the opening weeks of the season.
But, Raphinha is now all but a Leeds player.
This footage pretty much confirms that.
Let’s just hope we don’t have a Daniel James 3.0 or Michael Cuisance 2.0.
