Five Leeds United players could be set for January transfers after Elland Road exit confirmed – YEP journalist
Five Leeds United players could reunite with Michael Skubala in January after he was appointed as Lincoln City head coach, according to Joe Donnohue.
Writing on the Yorkshire Evening Post website on Tuesday (14 November), the journalist said there is scope for one or a number of Lewis Bate, Mateo Joseph, Darko Gyabi, Sean McGurk and Sonny Perkins to join the former Whites U-21 manager at the League One side after his appointment was confirmed on Monday (13 November).
He added that the 41-year-old remains well thought of within the U-21s squad following his departure, suggesting there would be “few qualms” from a Leeds perspective if he was to try and sign some of the club’s youngsters on loan in January.

“Having worked with the likes of Lewis Bate, Mateo Joseph, Darko Gyabi, Sean McGurk and Sonny Perkins over the past season and a half at Leeds, there is scope for one or a number of the United youngsters to reunite with Skubala,” said Donnohue.
“Skubala was widely-regarded as a popular figure and coach at Leeds and remains well thought of within the U-21 squad, which suggests there would be few qualms from Leeds’ perspective if Lincoln were to come calling for a handful of the up-and-coming Whites youngsters on loan in January.”
Makes sense
It would actually make quite a bit of sense for Leeds to allow Skubala to take some of their youngsters on loan in the January transfer window.
Some of the players mentioned would welcome some more first-team opportunities and they are likely to get that with their old boss at Lincoln.
He has worked with some of those players over a reasonable period of time and should know the best way to manage them to ease their transition into a senior squad environment.

It wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see Skubala look to bring in some of his former stars on loan in January and the Whites are likely to help him out after his good work at Elland Road.
It will be interesting to see what happens in this space as the transfer window is less than two months away and there is sure to be plenty of speculation flying around.
