Fiorentina dream of signing Leeds United trio Wilfried Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and Illan Meslier

Fiorentina “dream” of signing Leeds United trio Wilfried Gnonto, Luis Sinisterra and Illan Meslier, but their transfer fees are a stumbling block.

The Whites were relegated last season and are expected to lose a host of star players this summer, with several linked with a move away to Premier League and European clubs.

The latest of those are Fiorentina from Serie A, but their “staggering figures” mean that the dream of signing them is exactly that and is unlikely, according to La Nazione (25 June).

“In England, as we said, there are staggering figures,” they wrote.

“In Leicester there is little that can be approached, in Leeds the well-known Gnonto, for another role that would be useful for Italiano, as well as the Colombian Sinisterra.

“Jewel also in goal, but the French Meslier is already worth over 20 million euros. You can dream, it’s just a game.”

Money’s worth

Leeds have got a boat load of talent in the squad right now and if we’re going to lose our best players during the summer then we have to be sure we get their true worth to let them go.

Gnonto was signed cheaply just last summer but his performances and obvious quality show that he is ready for the highest level, and that means big money.

Sinisterra was a more expensive signing and has experience at the top level and internationally, so we’d have to recoup our money back at the very least considering his performances last year, while Meslier has been mooted as a future France international.

His age goes in his favour too as there is plenty of room for improvement despite his poor performances this year, and that means a big fee should be expected too.

Leeds aren’t asking for crazy money for any of their talents, so if Fiorentina want them in then they need to pay up or look elsewhere.
