Leeds United agree £2m+ transfer exit for Finlay Gorman as add-ons wrapped into deal
Manchester City have agreed a deal potentially worth over £2million for Leeds United wonderkid Finley Gorman, according to 90min.
The news website reported on Tuesday (14 November) that Man City have agreed an initial £1.5million for the 15-year-old, which makes the deal a British transfer record for a player of the attacking midfielder’s age.
It is understood that add-ons would take that deal beyond £2million, breaking a record currently held by Liverpool for eventually paying £2million for Raheem Sterling.

Leeds are unable to block the deal due to Gorman being 15 and 90min claims the teenager has now agreed to sign for Man City.
Unfortunate
There’s nothing we can do about this, unfortunately.
It’s only right that players at that age can choose where they want to play as they’re not old enough to be bound to any full-time working contracts anywhere.
Until employment laws change in the UK – and they won’t – clubs with good academies will always lose young stars in this manner to bigger teams.
Leeds, however, do it to other clubs.
One example is when in 2021, Leeds signed up-and-coming goalkeeper Darryl Ombang from Bradford.
The problem is, there’s usually always a bigger fish.

Manchester City are just about the biggest sharks in the ocean, however, so any team is at their mercy when it comes to youth recruitment.
Their only problem is that players suffer from a huge amount of top-class competition there.
For example, Michael Olise, Romeo Lavia, Jadon Sancho, Cole Palmer and Brahim Diaz, for recent examples, have ended up leaving the Etihad and gone on to do very well elsewhere.
Will that happen to Gorman? Who knows.
For Leeds, to receive £1.5million up front for a 15-year-old is very good business. If it goes above £2million in the future, then it’s good news but it also means that Gorman could be doing very well.
In other Leeds United news, Man City are after yet another player from Elland Road.
