Fabrizio Romano shares what he has heard about Crysencio Summerville Leeds United exit

Fabrizio Romano has shared that Brighton are no longer in the race to sign Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville this summer.

Speaking on his Playback TV live stream (13 July), the reliable transfer journalist was asked by fans if he had heard anything on the future of the Dutch winger.

Romano reported that Brighton were no longer in the race for the 22-year-old and it remains open to sign him, although there is nothing imminent currently.

“Not yet my friend,” he said.

“Brighton had interest but they’re out now, so let’s see if other teams will enter the race.”

Leeds United to sell Crysencio Summerville?

The expectation all summer long would be that Leeds would lose their star man this summer, with an Elland Road exit all but inevitable.

However, Brighton have been the only team to make an official approach to the player and terms were never agreed. The Seagulls then moved on and signed Yankuba Minteh from Newcastle, before making a bid for Georginio Rutter.

It now seems that a move for Summerville is dead in the water for the Seagulls, and he must now wait on new teams to firm up their interest.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle have been strongly interested in the wide man, while PSG were also credited with an interest too although talk around that has cooled since the initial burst of speculation.

Leeds would happily wait it out and keep Summerville, but the player’s will is yet to be made clear. If he stays, it’s a huge boost for the Whites and if he leaves it will only be on their terms.

It’s a win-win situation now.
