Fabrizio Romano shares latest update on Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips transfer to Manchester United
Fabrizio Romano says Kalvin Phillips is not the first candidate for Manchester United this summer, but a transfer from Leeds is a ‘possibility’.
Phillips has been linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer, with fierce rivals Man United among the interested parties along with Aston Villa and Newcastle.
But despite reports that United are working on a potential £50m deal for the summer [MEN], Romano told Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE YouTube channel he isn’t the priority target.
“Kalvin Phillips is a possibility,” he said. “They’re exploring this possibility.
“There is not a negotiation between Leeds and Man United yet, let me clarify this point, because I see around about bids and negotiations, there is not a negotiation.
“He’s just one of the names they have on the list. But he’s not a name that is like the first candidate now, or close.
“He’s one of the candidates but not the first one.”
Dragging
This whole thing is becoming a saga and Leeds fans can’t wait to see the end of it, although obviously they only want one end out of it all.
Phillips is a huge Leeds fan and it seems unlikely that he’d jump ship when they’re at the stage where they are, struggling to qualify for the Champions League and in turmoil.

Everyone knows that he wants to sign a new deal and it seems like the quicker we can seal our Premier League status, the quicker all of this talk will come to an end because he’ll extend his stay.
But while it goes on, there is always that lingering hope in the back of your mind that he could make the move to a club that are undoubtedly bigger and he would walk into a starting spot.
The fact he isn’t apparently the first candidate in midfield is unlikely to be a major shock, considering their usual transfer strategy, but it’s also one more thing for Leeds to cling on to in the hope that he stays.
