Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United verbally agree deal to sign Marc Roca from Bayern Munich

Leeds United have a verbal agreement in place to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday night (15 June), the Guardian journalist reported that it’s a “done deal” for Leeds to sign the 25-year-old Spaniard for a fee of £10.4million plus add-ons.

It is understood that Roca’s move has been verbally agreed and the ex-Espanyol star will undergo a medical with the Yorkshire giants this week before his transfer is officially announced.

What next?

Leeds have not messed around in the transfer market since avoiding relegation to the Championship.

Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen were both snapped up from Red Bull Salzburg within a matter of weeks and now it looks as though Roca will become Jesse Marsch’s third signing of the window and his third as the Leeds United manager.

Roca’s barely played at Bayern in the last two years due to the sheer quality of their midfield options.

It doesn’t mean that the former Espanyol midfielder is a bad player, it’s just hard for him to compete with the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Marcel Sabitzer.

Still, Roca played a role in Bayern winning the Bundesliga title in his two years in Bavaria and his experience of playing in La Liga at Espanyol and in the Bundesliga should bode well for him when he makes a move to the Premier League.

After his signing is done, Leeds should turn to adding a new centre-forward.

We struggled badly in 2021/22 due to Patrick Bamford’s continual injury issues with numerous replacements struggling to make the grade.

Daniel James and Rodrigo were particularly disappointing up front so a proper striker is needed.

In other Leeds United news, a club is “guaranteed” to cash in on this Elland Road-linked forward.
