Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United to avoid structured deal for Raphinha, want at least £46.7m

Leeds United are not willing to settle for any kind of structured payment deal for Raphinha and they have “no intention of to accept less than” £46.7million for him, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday (31 May), the Guardian journalist reported that while Raphinha, 25, is a priority for Barcelona this summer, no deal is close between the La Liga giants and Leeds.

It is understood that Leeds have made it clear how much they want for the Brazil winger and that they also won’t accept a deal that is staggered out in instalments over a number of years.

Romano adds that the deal is now down to Barca and that other teams are also starting to show an interest in Raphinha.

We want more

Leeds can demand more than that for Raphinha – surely?

After how well he’s played this season and based on the quality of clubs linked with signing him, you’d imagine that we’re talking about a player who’s worth at least £60million here.

Raphinha has taken the Premier League by storm in his first two years in England.

The former Rennes and Sporting CP ace has scored 17 goals and supplied 12 assists in his 65 top-flight appearances for the Whites and it would have no doubt been more had his teammates not been so injury prone this season.

Raphinha will be worth every penny for Barcelona or whoever else signs him this summer.

Leeds United

He’s a top-quality player who would not look out of place fighting for a title or playing regularly in the Champions League.

Raphinha will get that at Barcelona so it seems like it’s only a matter of time before he does eventually leave Elland Road.

Unfortunately for Barca, their financial issues could get in the way of a deal, which will no doubt open the door for another club to swoop in.

If that’s the case, we hope it’s not another team from England who sign him. And definitely not a team from Manchester.

In other Leeds United news, this player is considering his options at Elland Road despite only signing last year.
