Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United fail to bid for Arnaud Kalimuendo as Paris Saint-Germain wonderkid set for £21.1m transfer
Leeds United have missed out on signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Arnaut Kalimuendo as he’s on his way to Rennes, according to Fabrizio Romano.
L’Equipe reported on Wednesday (10 August) that Rennes are on the brink of signing the 20-year-old French striker with Guardian journalist Romano adding on his Twitter account that a medical is pending.
Leeds had been linked with Kalimuendo, who’d spent the last two seasons on loan at Lens, but the Whites failed to make a bid for him.
Another one to cross off
Victor Orta’s not having much luck with his search for a new striker.
Leeds have already kicked off their Premier League campaign but have failed to add anyone up front to support Patrick Bamford.

Last term, Bamford was injured for large spells and Leeds struggled massively to get goals as Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch both tried – and failed – playing the likes of Rodrigo and Daniel James up top.
Leeds need a proper new striker in the squad who can compete with Bamford for his spot in the starting line-up and Kalimuendo would have fit that quite well.
Charles De Ketelaere would have done too but he’s opted to join AC Milan over Leeds.
We seem to be running out of options now and to be beaten by Rennes for Kalimuendo is a bit embarrassing because they’re the club we signed Raphinha on. Raphinha left Champions League football there to play for the Whites in England.
Orta’s got his work cut out now because the transfer window will be closed before we know it.
In other Leeds United news, Romano has dropped a major Juan Mata-to-Leeds transfer update.
