Fabrizio Romano: Cody Drameh set to leave Leeds United on loan
Cardiff City are on the verge of signing right-back Cody Drameh on loan from Leeds United, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday, the Sky Sports Italy journalist reported that Cardiff have beaten Welsh rivals Swansea to signing the 20-year-old on a temporary basis.
It is understood that Drameh is also attracting the attention of “several Premier League clubs”, with sights set on signing the former Fulham sensation in the summer.
Romano adds is a “done deal” but neither club has announced anything yet.
Leeds have suffered with a lack of depth in the full-back positions this season so it would only make sense to loan Drameh out if someone was to come in.
Jamie Shackleton is injured until February and Junior Firpo got injured in the defeat to West Ham today (Sunday) so Stuart Dallas could be needed at left-back in the near future.
Luke Ayling also fills in at centre-back so what happens with the depth at right-back if Shackleton is out, Ayling is needed elsewhere or is out and Dallas is tied down at left-back?
Don’t get us wrong, we think it’s the right move to loan Drameh out as he definitely needs more game-time to aid his development.
The England Under-21 international has impressed in his first-team appearances for Leeds with his fifth outing coming when he came on to replace the injured Firpo at West Ham today.
But he is needed right now so we assume that someone should be coming in to add cover in the full-back areas.
