‘Exciting’, ‘Snap him up’ – These fans react to Kristof Terreur Leeds transfer update
Leeds United have been linked with a lot of players since promotion was secured but one of the most exciting is Gent’s Jonathan David.
The forward has been in blistering goal-scoring form with 23 goals for the Belgian side this season, as well as 11 in 12 for Canada.
He’s played as an attacking midfielder but increasingly he’s being used as a forward – either an out-and-out striker or on either wing.
That sort of versatility would make him invaluable at Leeds.
The news of Leeds’ interest was confirmed by Gent president Ivan De Witte who claimed that the Whites had made a ‘much better’ offer than Lille.
David is rated at £27m by Gent and the news of the potential deal was picked up by Belgian football expert Kristoff Terreur.
He claimed that Lille had had a £23m offer (including bonuses) rejected with the Belgian side holding out for £27m.
Leeds fans responded to Terreur’s tweet with excitement. With the club president and Terreur putting out the news, it really does seem like this one could have legs.
And the Leeds fans are definitely behind a move for the 20-year-old. One pointed out that Lille had agreed terms with Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, clearing the decks for Leeds.
However, another delivered a funny verdict – that David would never start ahead of Bamford.
