‘Excellent’ – These Leeds fans rave about transfer report on forward who ‘would fit the bill’

Leeds United fans have been raving about a newspaper report which has linked the club with a move for Barnsley centre-forward Cauley Woodrow.

The Sun on Sunday reported on January 5 [print edition, page 61] that Leeds are in pursuit of Woodrow, 25, as a potential replacement for Eddie Nketiah after he was recalled from his loan spell at Elland Road by Arsenal.

Woodrow is currently injured and set to miss the next couple of weeks with a hamstring strain [Yorkshire Post] but has still been in good form for Barnsley this season despite their struggles in the Championship.

The former Fulham striker has scored nine goals in 22 league appearances for the Tykes, which is decent considering they are in the Championship relegation zone as it stands.

Also, in comparison, Patrick Bamford has scored 10 goals in 24 Championship outings, so both Leeds’ starting striker and Barnsley’s have similar records in front of goal.

Leeds need to sign themselves a new striker this month after Nketiah was recalled by Arsenal and Woodrow is someone who these fans believe can do a solid job for the Whites in the second half of the campaign.
