'Excellent', 'Emulation of Leicester continuing' - Many Leeds fans thrilled by CM transfer claim

Leeds United fans are excited by transfer speculation linking the club with a move for AC Milan central midfielder Tommasso Pobega.

According to Italian news outlet Tuttosport, Leeds, Leicester and Frankfurt are all interested in signing the 21-year-old at the end of the season.

Pobega is currently on loan at Spezia in Serie A, where he’s made 14 top-flight appearances this season in Italy and scored four goals and supplied two assists.

Last month, the Italy Under-21 international stunned Serie A with a goal and assist as Spezia earned a shock 2-1 win away at Napoli.

He’s a left-footed central midfielder and Leeds are dying for a player of that ilk and now, a number of fans are drooling over the prospect of his arrival in West Yorkshire.

One fan claims Pobega would be “excellent cover” for both Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich.

Instead of signing new players in the January transfer window, director of football Victor Orta worked on potential targets for the summer.

Last month, Mirror journalist David Anderson reported that Leeds do have targets but they were not available in the last transfer window.

As Pobega is on loan at Spezia, he wouldn’t have been available so it’s possible there’s something in this and the fact that the midfielder’s contract expires in the summer makes a deal even more possible.

It’s a long way away until the season ends and the transfer window reopens but we feel this one might be one to keep an eye on.

In other Leeds United news, this Whites ace is going to play for the number one team in the world, according to a BBC pundit.
