Espanyol set for financial windfall as Leeds United agree deal for Bayern Munich ace Marc Roca
Espanyol stand to profit from Marc Roca’s reportedly imminent move to Leeds United from Bayern Munich, according to La Grada Online.
Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on 14 June that Leeds have verbally agreed with Bayern to sign the 25-year-old Spanish midfielder for £10.3million plus add-ons.
Bayern signed Roca from Espanyol in 2020 and Spanish radio station La Grada now claims on their website (15 June) that they are due 20 per cent of any profit the Germans make on the midfielder.

It is understood that they’ll be due around £520,000 if Roca joins Leeds for £10.3million but that figure could rise depending on the add-ons.
Good business
Espanyol will have been waiting to see how much Leeds are paying for Roca because 20 per cent of a profit can work out to be a lot of money.
Sure, they would have expected Roca to play more than he did at Bayern and increase his transfer value by quite a lot.
However, that hasn’t happened for the ex-Spain Under-21 international, who’s played just 24 times in all competitions across two seasons at the Allianz Arena.

But for him to play such a small amount of game-time means that Bayern have done well to get a profit on Roca and, in turn, make some money for Espanyol, where Roca started his career and made over 100 appearances.
For Leeds, it means nothing but they still seem to be getting a very solid midfield player for a decent fee.
With Brenden Aaronson and Roca on board, Jesse Marsch’s midfield looks a lot better. However, the American will have to go out and sign a new midfielder if Kalvin Phillips does end up leaving Elland Road.
If that does happen, it’ll free up a lot of funds and we’d be disappointed to see fewer than five or six new faces in the Leeds senior side.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in pursuit of this £50,000-a-week forward who’s available for £3.4million.
