Erling Haaland has already endorsed ‘real talent’ Leeds United want to sign
Daniel Farke is set to shop for a winger in the January transfer window at Leeds United, with multiple players catching the eye.
After Leeds missed out on Harry Wilson on transfer deadline day, quality reinforcements out wide are necessary, especially after Dan James’ long-term injury.
Leeds have been linked with Chelsea’s Tyrique George, the 19-year-old who essentially blocked Wilson’s move to Elland Road in the summer.
George has made 10 appearances in all competitions for the Blues in 2025/26 and isn’t the only attacker on their radar.
Leeds to swoop for Jens Petter Hauge
According to TEAMTalk, Leeds are one of five clubs interested in Bodo/Glimt winger Jens Petter Hauge ahead of the window opening.
The report claims that a host of English clubs were in Germany on Wednesday night watching Hauge score the crucial equaliser against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
That was the Norwegian’s third goal in five starts in Europe’s elite competitions, with the 26-year-old showcasing his talents on the big stage after Leeds once tried to sign him in 2020.
Interestingly, it has been revealed that Hauge would be interested in a mid-season switch to the Premier League, and what Erling Haaland said about his international teammate perhaps explains why the Whites should sanction a transfer.
What Erling Haaland said about Hauge
In 2020, ahead of his switch to AC Milan, Haaland praised Hauge as a ‘real talent’ and urged clubs to ‘keep an eye’ on his progression.
“Hauge is my friend. Keep an eye on him,” the Manchester City goal machine said five years ago. “They have taken in a real talent, and he’s playing at a beautiful club in Milan. They’re in an excellent league and they can do great things.”
Of course, since Haaland’s dad, Alfe-Hinge, previously played for Leeds in the late 90s to early 00s, his opinion holds a lot of weight, as do his statistics.
According to FBref, Hauge ranks in the top one per cent of Champions League wingers in 2025/26 for successful take-ons, and the top nine per cent for progressive passes, evincing his quality.
Indeed, it is no wonder that Farke has his eyes firmly set on landing the fleet-footed Norwegian after watching him shine against Europe’s best.
