Enzo Maresca wants to sign Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville for Chelsea, no big fees likely
Enzo Maresca wants to sign Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville for Chelsea this summer, according to Simon Phillips.
Writing on his Substack account (2 June), the journalist reports that the new boss at Stamford Bridge is keen to bring in a 1v1 specialist out wide and the 22-year-old Dutch star fits the bill.
Chelsea “sense an opportunity” to sign Summerville as Leeds need to sell players, and they believe there will be “no big fees likely attached to the move, wages, agent fees or asking price”.
Leeds United battle to keep Crysencio Summerville
There is a real battle brewing at Elland Road, because the club have openly admitted that sales are needed this summer and Summerville is going to be a prime target for a lot of clubs.
The winger hit 21 goals and nine assists this season and was a key member of Daniel Farke’s squad as they pushed for promotion, and proved that he was too good to be playing in the second division.
Maresca would have got a first-hand view of that after losing both of his games against the Whites while at Leicester, so it makes sense that he’d want Summerville in his squad.

But Chelsea have a lot of winger options currently with Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke, Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku.
Whether he’d play a lot or not is up for question, and the fact they believe he’ll be pretty cheap is worrying, but it seems impossible at the moment that he’ll pull on a Leeds shirt again next season.
In other Leeds news, the club want to sign an “unbelievable” striker with 51 goals in the last two seasons.
