Eintracht Frankfurt eye Leeds United talks in £8.4m Rasmus Kristensen transfer update

Eintracht Frankfurt want to buy Rasmus Kristensen from Leeds United for a sum significantly lower than the agreed £12.5million, according to Bild, as per Transfermarkt.

The Bundesliga club have made no secret of their desire to sign Kristensen permanently after taking him on loan last summer, but the outlet reported via its website on 13 November that they have no plans to trigger the £12.5million buy option.

Instead, Frankfurt plan to negotiate a fee “far” below £8.4million [€10million] with the Yorkshire-based club.

There has been confusion regarding Frankfurt’s option to make Kristensen’s loan move permanent, with Florian Plettenberg reporting a fee in the region of £8.4million and £10million, as opposed to Bild’s £12.5million mark.

Nevertheless, it appears Frankfurt want to negotiate a lower transfer fee and it remains to be seen how Leeds United react to that.

It is worth noting that the Whites signed the right-back from Red Bull Salzburg for around £10million in 2022 [Sky Sports].

Leeds could make a loss on Kristensen if they agree to sell him to Frankfurt for a sum significantly lower than what was agreed.

It is hard to see Kristensen, whose contract runs until 2027, return to Elland Road in any case as he also spent the last season away on loan at Roma.

Daniel Farke has Jayden Bogle and Sam Byram in his ranks and is unlikely to want the Denmark international back in the fold even if the Whites earn promotion.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could be throwing millions down the drain amid what is happening to Jack Harrison at Everton.
