Eduard Spertsyan shock as Leeds United source drops Deadline Day transfer news

Leeds United are not interested in signing Eduard Spertsyan from Krasnodar, according to Match TV.

Ivan Karpov reported via his Telegram channel on Saturday (1 February) that the Whites are looking to beat Sunderland to a deadline-busting deal for the 24-year-old.

However, Russian broadcaster Match TV has poured cold water on talk of Spertsyan moving to Elland Road, having contacted Leeds for clarification.

“No, that’s not true”, the Whites’ press office told Match TV (2 February).

No more signings at Leeds United?

The winter transfer window slams shut on Monday (3 February) evening and it is entirely possible that Daniel Farke’s side play the second half of the season without a single addition.

With Leeds United’s interest in Spertsyan ruled out, it is increasingly likely that no one will come through the doors at Thorp Arch on Monday.

The West Yorkshire outfit, though, remain hopeful of signing Cameron Archer from Southampton as they look to bolster their options in attack.

Leeds have already had a £15million bid rejected by the Saints for Archer, although there is still a glimmer of hope that a transfer can be done.

Meanwhile, Spertsyan would have provided competition to Brenden Aaronson had Leeds United pursued a deal to sign him from Krasnodar.

The Armenia international is playing an important role in the Russian club’s title push this season, having bagged six goals and three assists in 18 league appearances so far.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have an expectation regarding this player’s transfer ahead of the deadline on Monday.
