Eduard Spertsyan final decision made as Leeds make deadline day transfer approach
Leeds United are looking to bolster their attack before the transfer window closes later today.
Whilst Leeds’ 0-0 draw with Newcastle was an impressive result, the lack of attacking threat from the Whites was a major concern.
Leeds have missed out on many attacking players this summer, with Facundo Buonanotte being just one example of a name the Whites have attempted to bring to Elland Road this summer.
Eduard Spertsyan has also been linked to Leeds, with the 25-year-old playmaker being an interesting potential option given United’s poor options in the number 10 role.

Eduard Spertsyan decision made amid Leeds links
Spertsyan and Farke have previously worked together back in 2022, and the German manager was seemingly looking to reunite with the attacking midfielder.
However, according to reports from Hrach Khachatryan on X on 1 September, Spertsyan is set to stay at Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League.
The Krasnodar head coach also confirmed that the 25-year-old will be staying put with his side.
- This is another major blow for Leeds so late in the window
- Spertsyan has started the new season on fire
- He has already scored four goals whilst having eight assists from the opening seven league games
Despite Stuart Dallas claiming the club is working to secure new deals, the Elland Road faithful look as though they will be enduring a nervy end to the transfer window.
Leeds cannot rely on Brenden Aaronson as a starter
If Farke does want to recruit a new number ten, this would suggest he would like the option to play his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation.
Whilst Leeds have looked solid in the 4-3-3 they have deployed so far this season, they cannot afford to be this blunt in the final third throughout the season.
The prospects of Aaronson or Joel Piroe starting in that role will keep United supporters up at night and have them wondering how they will be able to compete in the top flight moving forward.
It’s quite simple for Farke to be able to have the tactical flexibility to use two formations throughout the campaign; he must be backed before the deadline this evening.
The ball is now firmly in the 49ers’ court.
