Early Leeds United team news v Everton: Daniel James makes squad - Kaveh Solhekol
Daniel James is in the Leeds United squad to play against Everton at Elland Road on Tuesday night, according to Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol.
James, 25, has been linked with a move to Tottenham with Sun journalist Alan Nixon reporting on Sunday (via Patreon, 28 August) that a loan-to-buy move has been made for the Wales attacker.
Solhekol says that despite the speculation, James is in the Leeds squad to play Everton.
“I don’t think Leeds United want to sell him, especially Jesse Marsch,” said Solhekol on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Tuesday evening (30 August, 05:29pm).
“It looks like Dan James is in Leeds’ squad this evening for their game against Everton. We’re being told there haven’t been any developments regarding Tottenham making a move to sign him late. Although who knows, all that can change in the next two days.”
If there was a chance of James being sold, we doubt he’d be playing against Everton.
It’s never a good idea to risk a player in a game when they could be close to getting a lot of money for the club.
Imagine if Leeds agree a fee to sell James, sign a player with that money and then James suffers an injury and is kept out for several months, breaking the deal down.
James hasn’t had an amazing start to life at Leeds since joining from Manchester United last year.
However, we’d rather not see him leave because it raises a lot of disruption to lose a key player at this stage when we doubt that there’ll be a good enough replacement brought in.
