Done deal: Finlay Gorman announces Leeds United exit on Instagram
Finlay Gorman has announced his exit from Leeds United on social media after signing for Manchester City.
The England U-16 international took to Instagram on Sunday (7 January) to confirmed his departure from Elland Road after posting a picture of himself signing a contact with the Premier League champions.
The 15-year-old winger said he is “delighted” to sign a deal with the Citizens and that he “can’t wait to get started” after turning down interest from a host of top-flight sides over the past few months to make the switch to the Etihad Stadium.

Hard to turn down
This is news that Leeds fans have been expecting to hear for a number of weeks, but it will still be extremely disappointing to see one of their most promising young talents move on.
The teenager had been receiving rave reviews for his performances for the Whites’ U-18s side, with a video emerging of him on social media a few months ago, where he went on a mazy run from the halfway line.
That also clearly caught the attention of some of the country’s biggest clubs, who have been lining up to try and sign the winger.

While his opportunities of first-team football may have been better at Elland Road in the short term, the opportunity for any young player to join Man City would be hard to turn down.
Potentially working under Pep Guardiola in the future and fighting for major honours on a regular basis – provided he makes his way into the first-team setup further down the line – is something the Whites simply couldn’t compete with.
In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that agents are set to decide on whether one player can make the switch to Elland Road.
