Leeds United showed they are "the real deal" in their 2-0 victory over Sheffield United on 18 October, Don Goodman has said.

Speaking on co-commentary for Sky Sports during the Oxford draw against West Brom (19 October, 1:17pm), Goodman was wowed by the Whites.

Pascal Struijk and Mateo Joseph's second-half goals in LS11 got Leeds back to winning ways in a dominant performance, with Goodman suggesting that they laid down a marker.

He said: “Impressive weren’t they last night, Leeds United? They looked the real deal.”

Leeds United need Premier League football

The Peacocks will be showered with praise from all angles if they can replicate their dominant display against Sheffield United going forward, and Farke will now be under pressure to do just that.

While admiration from pundits will be appreciated, when it comes to the ultimate goal this season – automatic promotion to the Premier League and no less – the proof will be in the pudding.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke
Daniel Farke's side are starting to hit a good run of form this season

At present, the Whites sit third on goal difference behind a Sunderland side with a game in hand, and given the club's record in the Championship play-offs, reaching the top two has to be the only goal.

If United are to show that they can stand above the rest and establish themselves as title favourites, a run of victories to pull clear at the top can help Farke's side to realise their potential.

With 10 games played and 36 still to go, the promotion battle still has plenty of race left to run, and after returning to winning ways against Sheffield United, the time is now to make good on the real deal tag.
