Don Goodman drops ‘No Doubt’ verdict amid Crysencio Summerville Leeds United exit speculation

Don Goodman believes Crysencio Summerville will be better off staying at Leeds United next season despite transfer interest from Chelsea.

The Dutch winger has been in scintilating form this season with 16 goals and eight assists in 36 appearances across all competitions, with Fabrizio Romano reporting several clubs are interested in a summer transfer.

One of those is said to be Chelsea, according to TEAMtalk, but when asked by FootballLeagueWorld about the interest (8 March) pundit Goodman believes he should stay at Elland Road for his development rather than move somewhere because they’ll pay him the most money.

“I think he would be better off sticking with Leeds,” explained Goodman.

“I’ve got no doubt that if and when Leeds get promoted they’ll build a team around him. I don’t think for a second that Leeds would do a Sheffield United and not invest, and you’d hope that they did a better job of investing than Burnley have done, with respect to Burnley.

“There may be alternative bidders that are better than Chelsea as well because he has had that good of a season.

“When you’re a player in hot form and teams at higher levels are courting you, it’s really important that you choose the right kind of club, the right coach and environment, rather than just going because they’re a big club or because they’ll pay you the most money.

“Hopefully he’ll get the right advice on that.”

Leeds United and Crysencio Summerville are a match made in heaven

Summerville broke into the Leeds team regularly under Jesse Marsch in the Premier League and made an immediate impact with the winner at Anfield, so it was clear he had a big future.

But the way he has kicked on at Elland Road this season has been a sight to truly behold and the way he has become such an important figure in Daniel Farke’s side is testament to his hard work.

Should Leeds earn promotion to the Premier League then there is no reason for the club or the player to be looking for a move away.

However should the team fail to secure promotion back to the top flight and be forced for another season in the Championship, then the chances of him staying again for another year are surely slim after proving he is too good for this division.

In an ideal world the club won’t have to consider it because they’ll be a Premier League side, but it’s one to keep an eye on over the summer regardless.
