Djed Spence completes Leeds United medical amid season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur – Fabrizio Romano
Djed Spence has completed his medical tests ahead of joining Leeds on a season-long loan from Tottenham, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (29 August), the reliable transfer journalist reports that the right-back has completed his medical and a deal is set to be signed to see him join Elland Road.
The deal will allow the Whites to move on Cody Drameh either permanently or on loan as he has made it clearr that he won’t sign a new deal, with his current deal set to expire next summer.
“Djed Spence completes medical tests at Leeds United, loan move from Spurs set to be signed,” he wrote.
“Leeds will allow Cody Drameh to leave on loan or permanent transfer. Drameh won’t accept a new deal and the arrival of Djed Spence clears path for his move away.”
Perfect
It all begins to make sense now, with the chase for a new, young right-back being a priority this summer despite having Drameh as part of the squad already.
With Luke Ayling still being picked ahead of him he was never likely to be happy, and with Premier League clubs said to be interested in his signature it was always likely that he would move on.

A deal to sign Max Aarons earlier in the summer collapsed and now Spence has emerged as the preferred target.
Getting a deal done first was always important to ensure that we weren’t left short in that department for the new season, so now that it is done an exit can be worked on instead.
It’s a great move for Leeds and the board have reacted well to the situation, so now fans can be excited about having a top prospect fighting for his place who actually wants to be here.
